Simon Leong

As a practitioner specialising in criminal and immigration law, Simon has gained experience in the Court of Appeal, the Crown Court, the Magistrates’ Court, and Prison and Immigration Tribunals both as a prosecution and defence advocate.

His prosecuting experience includes working for the Crown Prosecution Service, Merseyside and Cheshire Probation Service, the Department of Work and Pension, various City and Borough Councils about the North West of England (Liverpool, Warrington, Blackpool etc) and the Environment Agency amongst others.

Simon is known for his expertise in the questioning of experts and young persons. He has a strong attention to detail when researching, drafting and executing intricate legal arguments and providing advice.

Simon regularly accepts instructions on motoring offences including speeding, excess alcohol, failure to provide specimens, dangerous driving and tachograph offences.

He also has practical experience of the Australian legal system and worked on the 2000 Royal Victorian Commission Inquiry into the Metropolitan Ambulance Service.

CRIMINAL LAW

His extensive experience as a defence advocate include matters involving violent and organised crime, complex fraud, benefit fraud and tax evasion. He also regularly undertakes cases involving drug offences and Proceed of Crime Act hearings, complex motoring cases, serious sexual assaults and sexual offences prevention orders, football related offences and football banning orders.
